Apple gaming computer for Cyberpunk 2077 in 2021. Is it possible?
What should be an Apple gaming computer? The fantasy of our designers.
Apple makes excellent laptops and computers, but why aren’t they for gaming? With the latest M1 chip, Apple computers are among the most powerful in the world. Apple’s gaming computer could be the benchmark.
What’s stopping Apple from making a gaming laptop?
- M1 chip on the ARM architecture;
- lack of a powerful video card such as GeForce RTX 3000 series;
- most games in STEAM and Epic Games Store do not support the latest Mac OS;
- the very compact size of Apple computers and laptops.
We do not claim that Apple is developing a gaming laptop or computer, but let’s imagine what it could be.
For gaming, it is better to make a 15-inch laptop.
Apple would have had to release a 15 laptop, or better yet, a 17″ laptop, for starters. Playing on a small 13-inch screen is an agony. Apple would have no problem with the screen. They know how to make screens. We can see perfect screens on their desktop computers.
The biggest obstacle to Cyberpunk 2077 on Mac
The biggest problem is the graphics card. Here Apple could have two ways.
First, develop Apple’s graphics card. It is very time consuming and expensive.
The second way is to use the GeForce RTX 3000 series mobility video card on an Apple gaming computer.
This video card will require a lot more space, and the body of a gaming laptop will have to thicken at least twice.
In addition to the GeForce RTX 3000 mobility video card, they will have to install active cooling with at least one fan in the laptop body. This fan should cool the video card.
Perhaps Apple will get something like this – look at the photo below.
If you want to put GeForce RTX 3080 mobility on your Mac you need a cooling system.
Unfortunately, this is not all. Apple still has a lot of work to do to release a full-fledged Apple gaming laptop.
If you want to play Cyberpunk 2077 on Mac you need to make friends…
The most important thing is to make the latest Apple M1 ARM chip, the mobile GeForce RTX 3000 video card, and the proprietary Apple Mac OS operating system to be friends. We don’t know how to do this, but we believe that Apple could do it if they wanted to.

Let’s imagine that Apple released a 15-inch gaming laptop with a GeForce RTX 3000 mobility graphics card, cooling system, and optimized software. One final dilemma remains.
Apple has its own Arcade gaming platform, but gamers worldwide will want to use all platforms. For example, Steam and Microsoft Epic Games Store. Will Apple agree to be so multiplatform? What do you think?
Well, the most critical aspect is the price. How much do you think such a laptop can cost? Undoubtedly much more expensive than competitors.
Will such a laptop have a sale? Unknown. It all depends on the final price and whether games from Steam and Epic Games Store will be supported.
We’re confident that game studios will quickly optimize their games for Mac OS if Apple releases a gaming laptop. But will Apple do it?
